City are back at the LNER Stadium on Saturday 16 August as they host recently-relegated Plymouth Argyle (3pm KO).
The Imps head into the game fresh from a Carabao Cup victory against Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town with Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Rob Street scoring in a 3-1 success.
Saturday’s meeting with Argyle will be City’s second home fixture following on from a 2-0 opening day win against Reading.

Michael Skubala’s thoughts:
“I think what we do is try and find a way to cause damage to the opposition and how they want to play. We’re very adaptable in our structure. We want to be front-footed, exciting and go after teams, especially at home, take it to the opposition.
"I don't think they've got going yet, when you look at their squad and the power they've got in the team. They're trying to adapt with a new manager and a new style of play but I don't think they've got going in the league yet so It'll be good for them to come to our place and hopefully we can the business."
Conor McGrandles:
“It’ll be a good achievement if I make my 150th appearance on Saturday, I’ll be really proud. I didn’t think when I came here the first time I’d get to that amount of appearances so if I do manage to feature it’ll be a really proud one.
“I try to do the same things whoever I’m playing with in midfield. Obviously there’s different things that other people are better at so you can play on that. I just try to do the right thing in right moment no matter who I’m playing alongside.
“It was disappointing last week against Wimbledon - it felt like a game we were looking to build into. We know this will be a really hard game as well. It’s going to be real tough, they’ll come here to win so we’re going to have to be at it if we want a result."
Opposition information:
Plymouth will be hoping to bounce straight from last season’s relegation from the Sky Bet Championship and recreate the success they had in the third tier back in 2022/23 where they lifted the league title.
Saturday’s visitors have made a number of new additions to their playing squad for the 2025/26 campaign with new head coach Tom Cleverley making his mark at Home Park. Winger Xavier Amaechi, striker Aribim Pepple and central defender Brendan Wiredu are just three of the names to sign up this summer.
Argyle have started the new campaign slowly with two league defeats from their first two games against Barnsley and Bolton but they did have an impressive evening at Home Park on Tuesday night, beating Championship side QPR 3-2.
City’s last meeting at the LNER Stadium against Plymouth ended in a 1-1 draw with Max Sanders earning a point for the Imps. Lasse Sorensen scored his first Imps goal in this exact fixture back in 2021, while in 2020 Brennan Johnson scored his first professional goal in a 2-0 win.
