City head coach Michael Skubala made five changes to the starting XI as his side took on Harrogate Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Two changes were enforced, with Tom Hamer slotting in at centre-back alongside Sonny Bradley as Adam Jackson missed out through suspension.

And Erik Ring also came in for his first start of the season, with Reeco Hackett not risked following the injury which forced him off at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Zach Jeacock replaced George Wickens in goal, with Ethan Hamilton coming into a midfield role alongside Tom Bayliss and Freddie Draper given an opportunity as the central striker.

Second-year scholars Noah Simmons, a left-sided defender, and Dan Vanderpuye, a forward, were also brought onto the bench.

Both had trained with the first-team and been involved with matchday squads during pre-season.

Imps line-up: Jeacock; Darikwa, Hamer, Bradley, Towler; Bayliss, Hamilton; Street, Moylan, Ring; Draper. Subs: Wickens, Pardington, McGrandles, Collins, Okewoye, Okoro, Simmons, Vanderpuye.
