Freddie Draper was delighted to get his first goal of the 2025/26 campaign in City’s Carabao Cup first round victory at Harrogate Town.
Draper doubled the Imps’ advantage in the second period, latching onto a loose ball inside the area for his first goal of the season, with Jack Moylan and Rob Street also contributing to an impressive 3-1 win at The Exercise Stadium.
He said: “I’m happy to get my first goal of the season and I was pleased with the performance. It’s all about being reactive in the box, that’s what I’ve been learning recently to always be on my toes and try to gamble, get in the box and see if one goes my way.
“I felt like we could’ve got something out of that game on Saturday but it’s good to have a game on the Tuesday straight away to rectify it. It’s good to get back to winning ways."
Draper is feeling confident after a strong performance is setting his sights on making the most of future opportunities and building momentum.
He added: “I’m ready to prove myself and show people what I know I can do. The most important thing for me is to work hard, get 90 minutes and score some goals.
“As a striker I need to score more goals like that because that’s my game, to be alive in the box and be effective. When the ball is bouncing I back myself to get there but it was good to get another goal here and hopefully many more to come.”
