Head coach Michael Skubala hailed a professional performance as his side secured a place in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Goals from Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Rob Street sealed a 3-1 win at Harrogate Town,  in a match the Imps controlled for most of the 90 minutes.

Skubala said: “Once we got settled we had complete control of the game, we made a few tactical tweaks at half-time  and had complete control of the second half.

“There were some top performances across the pitch and we can look back at a great performance. Freddie Draper was a handful all night, playing as a No.9 and No.10, as was Jack Moylan and Rob Street.

“It was great to get some good minutes into players who had been in and around the squad but not playing full matches.”

Skubala was pleased to be able to hand professional debuts to Noah Simmons and Gbolahan Okewoye as the youngsters came on in the closing stages to help see out the game.

He said: “It’s always good to get them on the pitch and get a feel for it - they did  well when they came on and did everything we asked of them.

“All in all it was a good performance with some moments of real quality.”

Conceding with almost the last kick of the game was frustrating, albeit ultimately meaningless, but the ankle injury suffered by Jack Moylan was the only real negative from the evening.

Skubala added: “We’re a bit cheesed off at conceding the goal but the real downer was the injury to Jack Moylan so we just hope it’s not that serious.

“It’s too early to know how long it’ll keep him out. I’m gutted for him as he’s worked so hard to get back from an injury last season and to get himself into the team.”
