City striker Rob Street said it was an amazing feeling to score against World Champions Chelsea on Tuesday night.

Street pounced on a loose ball inside the final five minutes of the first half to give the Imps a deserved lead against the Blues, before two goals in five minutes turned the tie in Chelsea’s favour.

Reflecting on his goal, Street said: “It’s a hard feeling to describe, it was amazing to score, and it is a moment I won’t forget.

“Looking back on the night, we had chances to win the game and that speaks volumes of how well we’ve performed.

“They have quality all over the pitch and to put world-class players under the pressure we did is something we can take great pride from.”

City are next in action on Saturday when they travel to face Peterborough United in Sky Bet League One and Street feels the team can take confidence from the Chelsea fixture into the game against Posh.

He added: “They came out in the second half and turned it on those five minutes and with the quality they have, it can be hard to prevent it.

“At the end of the day, I think as a team our performance was absolutely top draw.

“We’ll take immense pride from tonight and go again on Saturday, we have another tough game at Peterborough and we’ve got to be ready for that.”
