After securing promotion on Easter Monday, City will turn their attentions to Saturday's fixture with Leyton Orient (12.30pm KO) at the LNER Stadium, where the Imps will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run to 25 matches.
Read the thoughts of Michael Skubala and Rob Street as well as all the key information ahead of the clash with the O's.
Michael Skubala:
“It was an amazing feeling to win promotion and celebrate with our fans and the jubilation at the end shows the togetherness in the group.
“We don’t want to stop here, we now want to go on and win the title. That is the next aim for us. We’ve put ourselves in such a good position and if you talk to people within the game, the chance doesn’t come around often because they are so hard to win.
“We know how good Orient can be. They beat us earlier in the season and I’m sure we will have another tough battle on our hands this Saturday.”
Rob Street:
“We’re all over the moon, winning promotion was one of our targets this season and to do it with so many games to go is such a massive achievement for everybody at the club.
“We had a meeting on Thursday morning as a team and the focus is now on winning the title. We don’t want to settle for what we have done so far, albeit we know how big an achievement that is.
“We now want to go one step further, we’ve put ourselves in a fantastic position to do that, now we’re looking forward to doing everything we can to continue our form into the final few games of the season.”
Opposition information:
Leyton Orient currently sit 15th in Sky Bet League One with a points tally of 50. Orient have lost just one of their last seven games, a run which has seen them rise from the relegation places to midtable and seen head coach Richie Wellens nominated for the Manager of the Month award for March.
That one defeat was in their most recent game when welcoming Huddersfield Town to the BetWright Stadium, with ex-Imp Sean Roughan assisted both Terriers’ goals in a 2-1 win for the visitors. Before that, they played out two consecutive 0-0 draws with both Exeter City and Wigan Athletic.
When the teams played in October, it was the O’s who emerged victorious with a goal from Idris El Mizouni proving decisive.
Match information:
Ross Joyce is Saturday’s referee with his assistants being Daniel Smith and Oliver Bickle and Gareth Thomas rounds out the officiating team as the fourth official on the day.
