City attacker Jack Moylan shared his delight after his goal helped the Imps stretch their uneaten league run to 25 matches with a 2-1 win over Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon.

The Imps sealed a return to the Sky Bet Championship for the first time in 65 years with a 2-1 win over Reading on Easter Monday and Moylan insisted the team are now focusing on their efforts to win the third tier title.

He said: “Monday was incredible and everyone knows that, but there’s still a job to do and we were delighted to get the result.

“It can’t just be a celebration. We’re not ‘on the beach,’ we still have a title to win and that is the mindset we have.

“We’re a family here, with lads from every walk of life. I’ve been in many dressing rooms where it hasn’t clicked, but I think this is the best group I have ever been part of.

“I think we’ve shown that this season. We’ve got a really good group of lads with staff that really help us.”

The goal saw Moylan edge himself to the top of the Imps’s scoring charts with his tenth league goal of the season, but the Irish attacker was quick to praise his teammates for the team effort this term.

He added: “I was joking with Reeco that he wasn’t passing to me in the second half, I think he wanted to get one!

“We’re top of the league and only have one player with 10 goals in the league, that just shows how much of a team effort it has been.

“Everyone has contributed and the goals have come from all over the pitch, that speaks volumes.

“Not just the goals, but the lads at the back too, with Sonny, George and the others putting their bodies on the line for us to get the win.

“The attacking players probably get more praise than the defenders, but I want to give them credit, because they’ve been instrumental to us.”
