City will be backed by over 3,000 fans when they head to South Wales to take on league leaders Cardiff City on Saturday 7 March (12.30pm KO).
Read the thoughts of both Michael Skubala and Tendayi Darikwa as well as all the key information ahead of the Imps’ clash with the Bluebirds, where City will be looking to make it 18 games undefeated.
Michael Skubala:
“It’s just another game of football for us, we need to make sure that we keep our processes the same because that’s what we’ve done all season and it’s put us where we are.
“We’re excited about the game because there’s going to be 3,000 travelling fans, which is amazing, but more than anything we’re excited to show what we can do.
“We’ve got an experienced squad with experienced players who have played at big grounds, Cardiff are a big club at this level, it’s going to be a great environment to play in.”
Tendayi Darikwa:
“It’s another game we’re excited for, two top teams in the division, I’m sure the supporters are going to build it up to be a special occasion but at the end of the day it’s just another game in a long journey.
“The season doesn’t end at this stage, there are still 12 games to go, and we’ve just got to go and try and win every game available to us and see where it takes us.
“We’ve got some big characters and people have really stepped up to the plate this season, we’re 17 unbeaten so we must be doing something right, so we will just focus on ourselves and prepare right.”
Opposition information:
Cardiff City are currently top of Sky Bet League One, a point ahead of City after 34 games. Brian Barry-Murphy’s side have only tasted defeat once so far this calendar year, against Plymouth Argyle.
That fixture took place just two weeks ago, but the Bluebirds bounced back in there most recent outing when making the journey to the Eco-Power Stadium to face Doncaster Rovers, they emerged 4-0 victors.
The LNER Stadium hosted the reverse fixture in December and it was the Imps who managed to claim all three points, Alex Robertson found the back of his own net before half-time, it was then Perry Ng who equalled proceedings for the visitors before Sonny Bradley headed home his third goal of the season to ensure a City win.
Match information:
Tom Reeves will take charge of Saturday’s fixture with his assistants being Marvyn Amphlett and Samuel Fudge, the fourth official is James Durkin.
Coach travel notice:
Please note: City's official coaches travelling to away games will depart from the bus stop on Tentercroft Street for the foreseeable future. This change is required due to changes in road layout around the Sincil Bank area, although the club are committed to working with Lincolnshire County Council to allow a return to the LNER Stadium. Imps fans who are making the trip on official coaches will still be able to park at the LNER Stadium, but we urge you to allow time to get to Tentercroft Street for the departure.
