The Imps will be playing Sky Bet Championship football for the first time in 65 years during the 2026/27 season after sealing a famous promotion with a 2-1 win at Reading on Easter Monday.
The victory means City are 19 points clear of third-placed Bradford City, confirming their place back in the second tier for the first time since the 1960/61 campaign and writing a new chapter in the club’s proud history. It is the first time promotion has been won from the third tier since the 1951/52 season - 74 years ago.
It has been a truly remarkable season, built on consistency, resilience and belief, with 27 wins, nine draws and just five defeats so far. With five games still remaining and the Imps now sitting on 90 points, there is still the opportunity to make this campaign even more unforgettable during the coming weeks.
