Tom Bayliss described the decision to sign a contract extension with the Imps as a "no-brainer" after the club secured his future until 2028.
The midfielder put pen-to-paper on a three-year extension ahead of City's win against Reading on Saturday following a successful first campaign in red and white.
The 26-year-old quickly nailed down a place in Michael Skubala's side after signing on a free transfer in June 2024, making 39 appearances across the campaign with seven goal contributions.
He said: “I'm really enjoying it here, it was a no-brainer when I found out the club were willing to offer me a new contract. I love the place and the lads and there’s nothing better than going out and playing in front of the fans at the LNER Stadium.
“It’s always nice as a footballer to be wanted, I think that’s one of the main things for me. I see the club progressing and going in the right direction for where I want to go in my career."
Bayliss credited Michael Skubala, the coaching staff and the playing squad as big reasons for his decision to remain at the LNER Stadium.
He added: “You look at everything when you’re signing a new deal but the head coach and the staff work so hard for us as players, they’re really detailed in their work and what they want from us.
“The lads are brilliant too, it’s a really good changing room and that was a big part in me wanting to stay here.”
