Tom Bayliss heaped praise on forward Rob Street ahead of City’s trip to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

The midfielder took time to acknowledge the impact Street has made since returning from a loan spell with Doncaster Rovers which saw him win the Sky Bet League Two title, highlighted with the 23-year-old's impact in the Imps' opener against Reading.

He said: “We’ve got people who can come in and affect the game, we all know what’s needed. I played with Rob at Shrewsbury when he was a lot younger, you can really see his development here.

“He’s come back this season, he’s hungry to play and we saw that on the weekend where he did really well.”

Bayliss reflected on a 2-0 opening day victory at the LNER Stadium against Reading and looked ahead to City’s next task in the capital against newly-promoted Wimbledon.

The 26-year-old is certain that the Imps will be up for the task when they head to the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

He continued: “It’s always nice to get off to a good start. It was a good performance from the lads and I think we thoroughly deserved to win.

“They look really hard to beat, really physical and did well against a strong Luton side that you’d think will push for promotion this year so we know what’s to come and we’ll be up for the task.

Head coach Michael Skubala was impressed by Wimbledon in their opener against Luton last Friday night but says his side will be aiming to get all three points.

Skubala added: “We know it’s going to be a tough game because they’ve just been promoted and it’s their first home game of the season.

"I thought they had a really good disciplined way about them against Luton. We’ll look after what we do and try to get three points.“
