Tom Bayliss says the unity in the squad was evident with the magical moment which saw him score to seal Saturday’s win over Mansfield Town.

Midfielder Bayliss struck in time added on to secure Saturday’s 2-0 win, following Rob Street’s penalty in the first half.

He said: “Every player wants to start games, but if you don’t then you want to have an impact off the bench. The lads have been brilliant while I was injured, so I’ve had to be patient but it was great to cap it off with a goal.

“The gaffer made it clear that we wanted to send the fans home happy. I lost it a bit when I scored and it was a special moment.

“Every win is important at the moment - the lads had to dig deep and our togetherness and fight shone through. We’ve got quality throughout the pitch and everyone knows their job.”

A sold-out away end was full of Imps fans, as the momentum which has grown throughout the season continued at the One Call Stadium.

Bayliss added: “Everyone’s staying grounded, but this was a very special away day. You have to dig in at these places but it’s showed we have different ways to win games.

“The fans have been brilliant all season, to have that away end was brilliant and long may it continue.

“We know where we are but we’ve just got to keep taking it one game at a time and see where that takes us. Blackpool were a tough side at their place so we know we’re in for a tough match next week but we fancy our chances against anyone at the LNER Stadium.”
