Tanto Olaofe hopes his first City goal will be the start of many after helping the Imps to a convincing 4-1 victory at Blackpool.

The forward, who joined on a season-long loan from Charlton Athletic this summer, opened the scoring at Bloomfield Road with a composed finish after 35 minutes as City secured their place in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Having gone close to opening his account at Middlesbrough earlier in the campaign, Olaofe was pleased to make his opportunity count on the Fylde coast.

He said: “You’ve always got to stay ready. I was ready and I just tried to be nice and composed and slot it away.

“It’s the best feeling in the world. I think any player would say scoring goals is the best feeling, and getting off the mark for Lincoln City is beautiful. I hope to add more goals and keep building on that.”

Olaofe believes the performance demonstrated the options available to City as they prepare for the demands of a Championship campaign.

He said: “I think that shows the depth of the squad. There were 11 changes and it’s a long old season.

“It’s the first time many of us have played together as well. I thought we played well. There were obviously bits that weren’t perfect, but that’s what these games are for – building on that momentum, learning each other, learning from each other as teammates and building relationships.

“Football is a universal language. When we’re on the pitch, you don’t need to speak the same language. We’re all football players and we all understand each other from there.”
