Head coach Michael Skubala says his side’s performance in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Blackpool sums up everything that is good about his group of players.

The home success stretched the Imps’ unbeaten run to 17 games, as they were backed by another sell-out home crowd at the LNER Stadium.

Skubala said: “This epitomises the group, not just the starting XI but everyone who came on, was absolutely magnificent.

“We knew this would be a tough game and in the first half we had to wrestle control, we made a few tweaks at half-time and we got on top of them in the second half. That second period was one of our best performances of the season - not just in terms of the goals we scored, but the way we limited their chances.”

Three goals in 11 minutes at the end of the match sealed the three points, as Skubala’s side showed a real ruthlessness and determination to make the most of their strong position in the game.

Skubala said: “We know we can suffocate teams, and make it very hard for them to get out. We have spells like that where you can just feel goals coming.

“As soon as the second goal went in I felt we would get more, and the lads got the job done.”

Fans can look forward with excitement to next week’s trip to table-topping Cardiff City, where Skubala’s side will be backed by around 3,000 fans in South Wales.

Skubala added: “It’s an exciting game and it’s the fans’ job to dream, we’re focused on going there and giving a good account of ourselves.

“Ultimately there are the three points on offer for any match, and this one game will not decide our season, but we can look forward to next week."
