City head coach Michael Skubala praised the mentality of his squad after they made it three league victories in a row with a 3-0 win at Peterborough United on Saturday.

After defeating pre-season promotion favourites Luton Town on Saturday and then pushing Premier League side Chelsea all the way in midweek a trip to Posh looked a tricky assignment for City, but they passed it with flying colours thanks to goals from Adam Reach, Tendayi Darikwa and Justin Obikwu.

Skubala said: “To go again after the week we’ve had and the energy needed to get a result was fantastic.

“Games like this, especially off the back of a game like the Chelsea one in midweek, can be tricky.

“In the first 10 minutes I think we got on top of them and after weathering a bit of pressure after we scored, we dominated the game in the second half.

“It was a special day to get three points for us. It was a proper squad effort, which is so pleasing.

“It just shows the mentality of the group. We’re a really strong squad and we didn’t give away many chances.”

1,870 Imps supporters were there to see their side record their first win in Peterborough for nearly two decades and the head coach heaped praise on the fans for the part they played.

He added: “It has been a special week, we were fantastic against Luton last Saturday and so close to upsetting Chelsea.

“The fans have been amazing, they were great today again and got right behind the team.

“We’ve just got to stick together, the fans are with us and we can all feel it, there’s a real connection there.”
