Defender Adam Reach has called for a high-tempo display on Tuesday as the Imps look to make it four home wins in a row in Sky Bet League One, when they host Barnsley on Tuesday evening (7.45pm KO).

The 32-year-old believes the Vertu Trophy win at Oakwell back in November gives the Imps confidence going into the game but reiterated they must show energy and intensity if they are to come out on top.

He said: “Conor Hourihane has got them playing expansive football through the thirds with lots of good patterns and build-up.

“We’ve watched a lot of them and we played them in the cup a few weeks ago so we’ve got a taste of what they’re going to do.

“We’ve got to get our intensity and energy right, that’s what we did at Oakwell. We have to play with that tempo like we always do at home.

“We can take confidence from the match at Oakwell. It’s a good framework to see how we can against those and we’ll be looking to repeat the exact as it was a really good result.”

Reach has made a big impact since signing for the Imps in the summer, making 14 appearances and forming a crucial part of the backline.

He added: “It has been really good and I’ve settled in nicely, it’s indicative of the atmosphere at this club, the staff and players have been really welcoming.

“There’s a real togetherness with the fans and we’ve got off to a good start which always helps. We’re on a good journey and I’m looking forward to playing a part in that.”
