City have triggered a one-year extension in Adam Reach’s contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The Imps have exercised an option in the 33-year-old’s existing deal, extending his stay at the ProAmpac Stadium until the end of the 2027/28 season.

Reach has established himself as an influential figure within the City squad since joining the club, bringing a wealth of experience, quality and versatility to the side.

His experience has proved particularly valuable during City’s transition into the Championship, with him playing an important role both on the pitch and within the dressing room.

Sporting director Jez George said: “It is really important that we keep a balance within the squad of young players with high potential, players approaching and in their prime and then a senior leadership group.

“Adam is crucial in that group of experienced players, especially with the long-term injury to Tendayi, and formalising his contract extension was fair to Adam and right for our long-term planning. There is always a perception of how players regress physically with age, but Adam’s sprint and high-speed running distances per game continue to be  consistently impressive at the top of our squad. This data is more important to us than the date on his birth certificate.

“Add to that Adam’s undoubted quality, and influence off the pitch, then this is a decision that makes total sense for us and him.”
