Goals from Ben House and Rob Street saw City finish a memorable 2025/26 campaign on a high, setting even more new records.

The 29 games unbeaten in Sky Bet League One is the longest run any club has achieved in this division - beating the previous record set by a Luton Town side that included Sonny Bradley and James Collins in 2018/19.

The 103 points accrued is also the most any Imps side has ever earned in a single season, while the successes on the road also match some of the best ever delivered by City.

This success was a 13th win on the road, matching the club record set in 2020/21 by the side which reached the League One play-off final. There have only been four defeats away from the LNER Stadium - a low mark only hit three times previously.

Imps head coach Michael Skubala made one enforced change, with Ivan Varfolomeev ruled out due to a knee injury. Tom Bayliss came into the starting XI, alongside Conor McGrandles.

After a touch of class from the home side providing a guard of honour to the Imps, the visitors started brightly.

An attack saw Reeco Hackett pull the ball back into the area inside the opening 60 seconds, but the delivery was just behind his onrushing attacking team-mates.

City's first shot came five minutes later, as House nodded Rob Street's cross into towards Moylan. The Irishman's shot was blocked

And Moylan had a shot blocked a few moments later as he got on the end of a House nod-down.

City took the lead through a good move which was started and finished by House. He won the ball back and gave the ball to Moylan - his run was stopped but he fed House, and the No. 18 took the ball past three defenders before firing a low effort into the far corner.

It was a deserved lead, but the home side put up a fight. They went close when their captain Ben Garrity had a deflected shot - Bayliss got the block in - loop just over the bar.

There was also a good move down the right from Onel Jernandez, though George Hall miscued his shot. Vale also went for goal with a direct central free-kick after 32 minutes - Walters went for pace but his shot was blocked by Ryley Towler flush in the face.

Liam Gordon had a late shot blocked by Sonny Bradley, and Jordan Gabriel sent a header wide as the home side had late opportunities before the break.

City doubled their advantage five minutes into the second period. A long pass from Deji Elerewe was headed down by Street into the path of Moylan, whose first-time shot came crashing off the outside of a post. It fell nicely for Street, who fired home.

Moylan went close again when he got a shot away following a corner, although his effort looped up and was safely collected by Joe Gauci.

Both sides made a raft of changes throughout the second period, with Dom Jefferies, Kamil Conteh, Ryan Oné, Alfie Lloyd and Erik Ring all sent on.

Hackett, seeking the goal which would have sent him clear in the goal scoring charts, flashed an effort just wide.

Martin Sherif flashed an effort over from close range with five minutes left, and Garrity fired wide for those hosts, while Ring also pulled an effort wide for the Imps, but in the end neither keeper were tested in the closing stages.

The home side did scramble the ball into the back of the net in time added on - but the assistant's flag was up for offside.
