Frankie Okoronkwo wants to keep his goalscoring run going after he helped City to a 2-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers with his first goal at the LNER Stadium.

Okoronkwo was rewarded with another start after his strike in the Vertu Trophy triumph at Barnsley in midweek and rewarded the head coach’s faith in him by netting in the first half. The win saw City continue their strong home form and Okoronkwo was pleased to make an impact in front of the home fans.

He said: “At the moment it feels like I’ve hit a little purple patch and that is something I would like to keep going.

“It was great to score against Barnsley but it is even better to get a goal at the LNER Stadium in front of all of our fans.

“I want to come here in and make an impact and send our fans home happy. I think that was my finest game in a City shirt, there were things I could have done better overall but for me I think it was my best display.”

The Everton loanee was keen to highlight the mentality in the City ranks after they recorded their second win in a week.

He added: “Last week was a tough result to take but we have a fantastic mentality in the changing room and we knew that we could rectify it this week.

“We’ve got something really good going on here and we’ve added that as well recently, the squad is a very strong one.

“Dom Jefferies has come back in and been brilliant. It creates a competitive environment, which is what we need.”
