City finish a trio of home games on Saturday 6 September (3pm KO) as they host Wigan Athletic in Sky Bet League One.
Michael Skubala’s side will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions and follow up a professional 3-0 victory against Notts County in the Vertu Trophy on Tuesday night with another positive result.
Michael Skubala:
“They’re a very good team, you come up against so many styles. Ryan Lowe’s teams are very tough to play against - he’s been very successful as a coach with other clubs. Christian Saydee is doing well for them, Ryan Trevitt has come in from Brentford. They’ve got a strong defensive line but we’ll have a plan to go and hurt them at home.
“We believe if on the day we can perform in this league with the group we have, we can be a test for anyone. We’ve got a real belief in the building that we can be a match for anyone on the day.
“It was a fantastic atmosphere last Saturday. The players love the fans and that comes from when we are having a tough time, the fans are backing the group.
“The beauty of the connection between the players and the fans for me is when we’re not on it, they dig deep with us and they help us through. It feels like a real connection between the players and the fans this year, which is special.”
Oscar Thorn:
“I just try to come on the pitch every time I play and make an impact whether that’s with the ball creating attacks or just doing all I can to help the team winning the ball back defensively.
“The Vertu Trophy has done well for me, it’s a competition that I played a lot of minutes in last year for Colchester and I earned my spot in the team from playing in that. Every game is the same, I try to put everything in, show what I can do and show my quality.
“I just try to play as many minutes as possible, whether I’m coming off the bench or starting it doesn’t matter, I want to make an impact and do what I can for the team.”
