City begin their Vertu Trophy campaign on Tuesday evening when they host Notts County for a 7pm kick off.
The Imps have been pitted against County in Northern Group D alongside Barnsley and Manchester United U21.
Michael Skubala:
"Notts County are a team who are growing in strength, we've watched them a couple of times, they started quite slowly but have improved.
"They'll want to dominate on the ball but we want to keep our unbeaten run going at home. We will rotate the team and give other players a chance, but that doesn't mean we won't be trying to win the game.
"We want to win and we want to do well in this competition, so it is really important for us to take three points in the first game."
Ryley Towler:
"We want to do well in every competition we play in and this is one we know we realistically could have a good run in this season.
"Notts County are obviously a good side with aspirations of their own, but I feel that if we perform to our best, that we'll have a good chance of getting the result we want.
"All the lads want to play every game and the chance of getting to Wembley in this competition is a massive incentive."
Opposition information:
County will be looking to go one better this term after missing out on promotion from Sky Bet League Two in the play-offs last season.
The visitors are managed by former Burton Albion boss Martin Paterson and have collected two wins and two draws from their opening six league matches.
The last meeting between the two sides came in the same competition, with City triumphing 2-0 in November 2023.
