Deadline day recruit Adam Reach praised his new team-mates for a professional display after winning their opening Vertu Trophy group stage game 3-0 against Notts County on Tuesday.
Sonny Bradley set the Imps on their way to victory over the Magpies after he converted a header from Reach’s delivery, before Ben House and James Collins struck in the second half to further demonstrate City’s superiority.
After starting with an assist for his new club and getting an hour under his belt, Reach said: “When your first game for a new club is at home it really helps you settle in. It was a really professional performance from the boys.
“Games like this can sometimes be a little bit flat but I thought right from the off we had a really good energy about us and we scored early which is obviously great.
“We managed the game extremely well.
“Throughout my career I've been someone who really wants to create and score goals.
“I’d like to say it was something we’d really worked on with Sonny, but I’ve only been here a day, so it was a little off the cuff!
“Taking set-pieces and having that responsibility is something I want to do and when you’ve got good players like Sonny Bradley who can really attack the ball, it’s about putting it in the right area.”
The experienced operator ended the 2024/25 campaign with Wycombe Wanderers, where the Chairboys narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs.
Now, he is looking forward to his new challenge with the Imps.
He added: “With the way it finished at Wycombe, with defeat in the play-offs, it leaves you wanting that little bit more.
“Being a free agent there is always a bit of stress and anxiety, but now I can look forward to the season ahead.
“This football club is really important to the city and that sold it to me. I’ve been lucky enough to play for some really big football clubs and I've just got a really good feeling about this club.
“I’m pleased to be a part of a club who are really on the up and we’ve got an excellent group of lads.”
