Lincoln City attacker Jovon Makama was pleased to be back on the scoresheet after firing a brace in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Sky Bet Championship side West Bromwich Albion at the LNER Stadium.
Makama and the Imps made a great start with two goals in the opening three minutes and City maintained their strong grip on proceedings to record an impressive victory.
The Academy product’s second goal was a sublime strike from distance, something which he says he’s been working on in the off-season.
He said: “I think the lads did well, from minute one we were bang at it and I think that shows with the performance and the scoreline.
“Throughout pre-season I’ve been working on my long-range finishes, so I’m really happy to see one fly into the back of the net.
“On Saturday I found myself in some good positions and I was able to pick the ball up in pockets of space, I know I have a powerful shot and I’m pleased with the second goal.”
Makama is excited after such an encouraging performance and is looking forward to the new campaign, which kicks off against Reading on home soil next Saturday.
He added: “Our past few performances weren’t where we wanted them to be, so for us it was a real lift to put in such a good display against a good side.
“It’s really exciting to be involved with this team and we can’t wait for the season to get going next weekend.
“We’re really looking to kick on and put on more performances like we did out there on Saturday.”
