Imps attacker Reeco Hackett hailed City’s togetherness and battling qualities as they recorded a third successive win all competitions with a 1-0 victory over Northampton Town on Tuesday night.
City took the lead through an excellent Freddie Draper strike in the first half and defended stoutly to ensure the three points came back with them to the LNER Stadium.
Hackett said: “I thought it was a very good away performance. We dug in when we had to and showed moments of real quality as well.
“Freddie took his goal really well and in the last half an hour we had to be really resilient to get over the line.
“Credit to the defenders, everything that they threw at us, they dealt with and we were first to all the second balls.
“They had a big chance at the end, but Wickens made a huge save when called upon, defensively we were top draw.”
He added: “With the type of game that it was and the position we had in the game, we needed everyone to contribute defensively and as a team we really stood up.
“The games so far have all been really different and we’ve had to show different sides to our game.
“We’ve shown that we are a really good side when we’re on the front foot and attacking, but also, we can dig in when we have to.
“In terms of results we’re all really happy and we think we can still get better.”
