City skipper Tendayi Darikwa says he can feel the confidence flowing through his team-mates after they recorded a stunning 5-2 win over Peterborough United on Saturday.

The win continued City’s outstanding run of form in the league, which has seen the Imps win six out of eight unbeaten matches.

Darikwa said: “We just need to keep each game as it comes, we knew it was a tough run of fixtures going into them and we’re really happy with the points we’ve collected.

“There’s so much confidence in the squad at the moment, we’re going into every game, believing that we can win and we’ve managed to have a brilliant run of form which hopefully we can continue.

“What we do have in this squad is massive character. We’ve responded to every setback and we want to carry that on moving forward.”

The skipper capped off a superb individual performance by scoring two of City’s goals in the victory over Posh and says he is happy to be playing his part.

He added: “First and foremost we’re gutted to be missing James Collins for a long period of time, but I think we’ve got enough quality in the side to all be chipping in with goals and at the moment we’re doing that.

“It has been a long time since I scored two in a game and is always special to see the ball hit the back of the net. The first one fell really nicely to me and as soon as I hit it I knew it was going in. For the second one, the game had got a little stretched.

“I heard a shout on my left and my right and to be honest I wanted to pass it, but I stayed calm and thankfully it went. Peterborough are a good team and pushed us hard. I think with the way we played today it gave me and Reachy a bit of license to get forward.

“We’re both in good from at the minute, so it is always nice to help the attackers by getting some goals.”
