Conor McGrandles hailed City's win at Exeter as one of the best of the season because of the grit and determination he and his team-mates needed to show.
Tom Hamer's first-half header sealed a 1-0 win to extend the unbeaten run to 19 games, but everyone in a blue shirt for the Imps had to put in a real shift to ensure the victory was secured.
He said: "It was a tight and edgy game where they threw everything at us at the end, and they're the ones that really mean the most because it's so tight.
"The character of the group shone through, once again, in what was a different type of game to Saturday.
"We know the boys will throw their bodies on the line to keep the clean sheet - and that's what they did."
McGrandles was delighted to follow Saturday's win at Cardiff with another great result, but is not about to get carried away with the good results.
He added: "We knew this week was going to be big, and to get six points from the two games is incredible, but it's just another three points and we've got another big game on Saturday when we play Stockport County."
