Chris Cohen has called on the Imps faithful to play their part once again when Swansea City visit the ProAmpac Stadium on Saturday.
City return home after successive 1-0 victories on the road against Preston North End and Bristol City, with Cohen remembering the impact the supporters had during the side’s last Championship fixture on home soil.
The Imps trailed Southampton 1-0 before Mikkel Ladefoged’s equaliser secured a point, and Cohen believes the atmosphere generated from the stands played a significant role in building the momentum which led to the leveller.
He said: “I remember the fans’ backing from the Southampton game. The noise was incredible, absolutely incredible.
“Even when we were 1-0 down, they definitely played a major part in that momentum shift towards the end of the game that ended up getting Mikkel’s goal. They’ll be needed, as always, on Saturday afternoon.”
Swansea provide the final test before the international break, with Cohen expecting another significant challenge against a side which has started the campaign strongly.
He added: “They’re a top team, have hit a real run of form over the past few months and started the season incredibly well.
“They are a really difficult team to play against. But we know the way that we play and have shown in the past few games that when we hit our flow we’re pretty hard to stop.
“There’s always going to be a question when you’re moving up to a new level, especially a level that quite a few of them haven’t played at, but we've always had real belief in them. Results naturally give them that belief, and the performances have been an absolute bonus as well."
