Adam Reach has been voted the winner of the All In Construction August Goal of the Month award for his strike against Middlesbrough.
The 33-year-old wrote his name into City history at the Riverside, scoring the Imps’ first goal back in the Sky Bet Championship for 65 years.
It was a goal built from back to front. George Wickens’ long ball was headed on by Freddie Draper into the path of Tendayi Darikwa, whose low cross picked out the arriving Reach.
The defender made no mistake, sweeping the ball beyond the goalkeeper to give City the perfect start and it proved to be a popular strike with supporters, with Reach claiming a landslide victory in the August Goal of the Month poll.
Reach said: “It’s always nice to receive recognition, especially for a goal that meant so much to the football club.
“To score City’s first goal back in the Championship for 65 years is something I’ll always be proud of, and I think the way it came about epitomised what Lincoln City is about – everyone playing their part and a real team goal.
“Unfortunately, it came in a defeat as when you score you always want it to be in a win. I’ll reflect on it as a lovely moment, though, and I’m really pleased the supporters enjoyed it enough to vote it their All in Construction Goal of the Month.”
