Millie Quaintance praised her side’s bright performance against Sporting Khalsa, as the Imps were narrowly beaten 2-1 in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.
The tightly contested affair at Moorlands was ultimately decided by a deflected goal in the second half.
Quaintance said: “We frustrated them and managed to hold them off for a long time. I don’t think they expected us to play how we did."
“Their second goal was a deflection so that was really unfortunate. But we were on top for a lot of the game and managed to keep them out of our half a lot, playing some good combinations between us which is how we got our goal.
"But I’m proud of the team, I think we put in a good performance.
Quaintance also praised Maddi Green and Lauren Nicholson for the part they played in City’s goal.
She added: “At that point in the game everything was just clicking, and Maddi did really well for the goal, getting right on top of the ball.
"Lauren did brilliantly, especially getting that cross in, it was great play from her today."
