Lee Mitchell praised City’s performance despite conceding a last-minute equaliser to draw 2-2 with Sutton Coldfield.
Faith Horner’s header and Lucy Farrow’s first-time finish had turned the fixture around for the Imps, but a late volley from the visiting side saw the points shared.
Mitchell said: “Performance-wise it was some of the best football I’ve seen this season, but it’s been coming for weeks now.
“Our performances have been really good, it was a dominating performance on this occasion and they’re not a bad team, I just think we were on a different level, and they couldn’t handle the way we played.
“It feels like a loss, but we move forward and we’ve got to be ready for Sheffield on Thursday.”
Jemima Footitt’s instinctive through ball into the path of Farrow made it the third time the two have combined to score a goal in 2024, and Mitchell feels that his side are gelling together nicely.
He added: “They’re playing well together, bouncing off each other, they’ve both got bags of pace, and they’re a handful.
“On a pitch like this, some of the football we played was superb, we see it in training but to be able to do that out here, and have the confidence to do that is great to see.
“When you have those performances but don’t get the results the players have to keep believing because the football they’re playing is superb. We’ve just got to keep that confidence high and keep it going.”
