Lee Mitchell was happy with the effort of his players in the second half despite ultimately losing 2-0 at Solihull Moors.
Two quick-fire goals just before half-time from the hosts was enough to seal the three points.
Mitchell said: “If you put all the stats together we dominated the game, our ‘keeper didn’t have much to do but the only statistic that matters is the final score and they got two goals early on.
“I can’t fault the players, they gave everything, it just wasn’t our day.
“The difference was that we didn’t finish our chances because the numbers weren’t there in the box and then it changed the game when they scored.”
Mitchell rang the changes in the second-half to try and impact the game and despite some good performances and opportunities, City were unable to breach the Solihull defence.
He added: “We just needed to freshen up in the second half, there were a lot of heavy and tired legs out there.
“We needed to keep it fresh and see if we could get something going. In the second half we changed our line-up and set-up completely, and went after the game because it’s worth the gamble and it almost paid off.”
