Lee Mitchell was impressed with the character his side showed to see out victory in a 2-1 win against Sheffield.
The Imps missed out on all three points against Sutton Coldfield due to a late equaliser, but managed to hold out in midweek to claim a vital triumph.
Mitchell said: “The character, the determination and the fight to win, the team’s just relentless with that and they’ve got that in buckets.
“The character that was shown to get over the line tonight was good and they got their just rewards.”
City have put in some great performances as of late but haven’t come away with all the points, so Mitchell was happy to see them convert their dominance into victory.
He added: “It’s been a long time coming, in three or four performances we just haven’t been able to get over the line.
“The players did what they have been doing for weeks now, but they got what they deserved and that’s the three points, and that’s what’s important because there’s only so many weeks you can keep going with your heads up.
“The performances have been there but if you get the performance with the result it means a lot more, and now our tails are up, and I’m really pleased for the players tonight and that the hard work paid off.”
