Lee Mitchell felt pride in his side's performance after the Imps drew 3-3 with table-topping Loughborough Lightning.
A positive performance against the pacesetters saw Neve Hincks on the scoresheet and Maddi Green force two own goals.
Mitchell said: “We’re a little bit gutted to have drawn, because we should have won it.
“I can’t speak more highly of the girls, the way they played was probably one of the best performances, as a whole, all season against a top team.”
City are set for a busy February with games against Boldmere St Michaels, Peterborough United and Northampton Town in the coming weeks.
He added: “It’s a tough February so we just need that to continue and we’re excited if that continues for the rest of the month.
“So many good moments, but I'm really proud of the players and what they did for the club was superb.”
