Lee Mitchell was thrilled with his side’s response as City beat Northampton Town 4-0 to bounce back from defeat to Peterborough United.
A 4-1 defeat to Posh saw City beaten for the first time in the league this season, but the Imps responded brilliantly with victory against the Cobblers.
Mitchell said: “It was the perfect response after Peterborough, and the players were just superb in all areas.
“They worked their socks off and trusted us, and it paid off. I don’t think you could’ve asked for a better response, with the goals scored, the goal difference, and the overall performance.”
Mitchell was also grateful to have strength in depth, with City able to maintain their performance levels in very warm temperatures.
“The depth on the bench is really good - everyone played a role in the performance.
“Some of these players on the bench are more than capable of starting, and that’s where the season comes into play.”
