Toni McHamilton was impressed with how City coped with the conditions in their 4-0 victory over Northampton Town.
In the midst of a September heatwave, McHamilton bagged a hat-trick as her side returned to winning ways against the Cobblers.
She said: “I think we did really well considering the conditions. At half-time both teams were flagging.
“The rain helped cool it down but it was still really uncomfortable. It just shows how hard we’ve worked in training and pre-season to get to this level of fitness.”
Following defeat in midweek, City’s current top scorer felt it was vital that the Imps bounce back against Northampton.
She added: “Although it was a 4-1 loss I don’t think that truly reflected the game.
“Nevertheless we didn’t deserve to win against Peterborough, so it was important we put in a performance, and it’s even better that we’ve come away with the three points.”
