Faith Horner believes City showed their battling qualities despite ultimately falling to a 4-1 defeat to Peterborough United.
The midfielder grabbed her first goal of the season to get the Imps back into the game in the second half, but two late goals saw Posh take the points.
Horner said: “I think we all battled well, and I do think we defended bravely - we put our bodies on the line, and we were flying into tackles.
“In the end I thought the score-line was quite harsh because we went three at the back to try and chase the game at the end.”
Despite finding themselves 2-0 down at the break, the Imps fought back in the second period and produced a much-improved display.
She added: “I think bringing more pace on gave them more to worry about, so we could just hit the channels more.
“We all had to step up in the second half because in the first 10 minutes of the first half we weren’t quite there, so we had to step up and give the extra five percent which I think we did, but we were just unlucky.”
