City Women have secured the signing of experienced midfielder Cassie Steward ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leek Town.
Steward joins from Peterborough United where she spent two years and is now excited for a new challenge with the Imps.
Steward said: “I’m really excited, I’ve been in talks with the management team for a long time.
“I’ve known about the team for a while, and I think some of the attributes that the girls have shown and the whole team brings gives off a real family vibe so I’m really looking forward to start.”
The Imps’ new signing will be available for selection ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leek Town as the Imps return to league action following cup defeat to Boldmere St Michaels.
She added: “If I remember correctly, they play on 3G so it’ll be a nice playing surface for them, which will be a bonus from their perspective.
“They have a decent squad; they like to play football and they do it well - especially through the middle. So, we’ve just got to dominate in that area and play to our strengths.”
City manager Lee Mitchell spoke of his excitement at welcoming Steward into their ranks.
“She’s somebody we’ve had our eye on for quite a few seasons now, we know what she’s about at this level, she’s experienced, she’s quality and she can score goals.
“It’s another great signing and one that we’re very happy to get over the line.”
