Lee Mitchell is excited for City’s FA Cup campaign to begin on Sunday 22 October as they travel to Lichfield City in the third qualifying round.
The Imps have had recent success in the FA Cup reaching the fourth round just two years ago, and Mitchell is hoping for a similar run this season.
Mitchell said: “Everyone loves the FA Cup. It’s what you dream of, how far you can go in draws. You have to take it one game at a time, but everyone’s excited for this as always.
“We want to be going into the latter stages, but you can’t look at the draw yet, we’ve got to get past Lichfield and they’ll be giving their all to stop us.”
Lichfield may be the underdogs in the contest but Mitchell is fully focused on making sure his side deliver a good performance.
He added: “We have to go out and we have to perform with the quality that we’ve got and with the players we’ve got.
“We can do all the homework we like, we’ve got to perform on the day, so we’ll go there with a strong squad and we’ll be ready to compete.”
