Maddi Green says confidence is high as City aim to build on her last-minute equaliser when they head to Sheffield FC on Thursday.
City’s Maddi Green rescued a point for the Imps in the final stages of the match on Sunday against Stourbrdige, and the winger has expressed the importance of backing yourself to make an impact ahead of Thursday’s fixture.
Green said: “You have to have that confidence to back yourself, even if that is coming off the bench. When I come on I make sure I do my best to get involved in the game and that I am switched on to any opportunities that come.
“It comes from what we’ve been working on in training and that helps when it comes to games.”
Green, who progressed through City’s BTEC programme and is now a regular feature in Lee Mitchell’s side, believes her strike earned the Imps a fair share of Sunday’s points.
She added: “It was a crazy moment and I felt speechless afterwards. We worked so hard for the whole game and everyone gave everything the had and we deserved the point we managed to get.
“I panicked at first when the ball fell to my right foot, but I managed to stay calm and composed and I’m delighted I managed to put it away.”
