Lincoln City Women continued their pre-season progress with an impressive 2-2 draw at Stourbridge.
Toni McHamilton scored both goals, continuing her 22/23 goalscoring form, with Leah Hardy assisting on both occasions.
Lee Mitchell was thrilled with the performance, especially considering that Stourbridge are now a level above the Imps after comfortably winning the league title last season.
He said: “We learned a lot of lessons following the first two friendlies against very tough opposition, so to come here and apply those lessons to this game was extremely pleasing.
"The scoreline was a fair reflection of our performance and determination, and it’s nice to see the girls’ hard work from behind the scenes paying off for the full 90 minutes in a hugely competitive friendly.”
City conclude their pre-season schedule with home games against Hull City and Hull United, and Mitchell is eager to build on the performance levels exhibited against Stourbridge.
He added: “This performance was a huge step in the right direction, but it’s important that we continue to build on that now in our final two games of pre-season so that we are fully prepared for the new campaign.”
Tickets for the girls' next pre-season friendly on Sunday 8 August against Hull City at Lincoln Moorlands (2pm KO) will be available on a pay on the day basis at £5 a ticket for adults and £1 for concessions.
