Lee Mitchell feels his side are ready for the start of the season after concluding their friendlies with a 3-0 win over Hull United on Sunday.
Goals from Leah Hardy, Brogan Pugh and Ella Moulding-Thompson ultimately guided the Imps to their second consecutive victory in pre-season ahead of next weekend’s opener against Notts County at the LNER Stadium.
Mitchell said: “It’s been a good pre-season with tough games, and we’ve grown into it at a time when we needed to. The way we played and performed against Hull United was important.
“I’m really happy with pre-season at this point, the squad as a whole and where we’re at ahead of next week.”
Mitchell was also pleased with the performance of his players against Hull, particularly after the break.
He added: “We got what we wanted out of the game, with a clean sheet and a brilliant performance that we grew into as the game went on.
“We had a really strong second half, we dominated play and just kept it under control, and at this point it’s about the performance as well as the result.”
