Toni McHamilton was pleased that City Women built on a positive pre-season by beating Notts County 6-2 in their FAWNL season opener.
The Imps’ skipper scored twice in the victory, with Millie Quaintance, Ella Thompson-Moulding, Maddi Green and Leah Hardy contributing the other strikes.
McHamilton said: “I’m really happy, we were confident coming into the game because we’ve had a really good pre-season.
“We’ve worked hard as a collective, and we were excited to get going, and we’ve come out with what we wanted and what we deserved.”
Following promotion last year, Notts County presented an unknown quantity for City, but McHamilton felt that they prepared well.
“We have a lot of respect for Notts County. They’re new to the league so we didn’t know much about them, we just knew we needed to play our game and that’s what we did.”
