Lee Mitchell has applauded his players following their first win of the campaign.
After conceding early on against Leek Town, Mitchell was pleased with the character of his side to come back and secure a resounding win at the EPC.
He said: “We have lost a bit of momentum in recent games when we have gone behind. If you look at the team last season, going a goal down would never normally phase us.
“What was nice was coming back and seeing the old mentality and what we are capable of. The response was good from the players.”
Mitchell was also quick to highlight his players’ solid defensive work on Sunday afternoon, following a frustrating start to the season.
He added: “We were a lot more compact and Leek did not have answers for that. I think it was more about our team’s defence. We did well and did not give them any time on the ball.
“I thought the players really responded to what we wanted, which was good. The point was to get three points and it is great that we have done that.”
