After a tight and dramatic opening match to the season, Lincoln boss Lee Mitchell was impressed with the record crowd who flocked to watch the Imps.
City welcomed promotion rivals Doncaster Rovers Belles to the LNER Stadium for their opening match in the FAWNL Division One Midlands on a Sunday afternoon in front of 1003 fans.
The away side Donny Belles edged a seven-goal thriller in a 4-3 victory.
He said: “The players were excited today. They are not used to this ground and playing here is different than our home ground.
“The crowd really got behind the players and they were fantastic. Every time we got an attack they cheered us on and that was a huge positive.
“I think for the players the hunger is there to play for crowds like that again. We just need to put in the performance and interact with the people of Lincoln and get them back again and again”.
During the second half, midfielder Leah Hardy notched herself a goal as she scored a beautiful free-kick from 30 yards which flew right in the top corner.
He added: “Leah has done that a few times last year and she does it in training, but what a time to do it.”
