Player Biography

Highly-rated forward Mason Melia joins the Imps on a season-long loan from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Melia joined St Patrick’s Athletic’s academy in 2022 and quickly made the step up to senior football, making his first-team debut as a 15-year-old in May 2023.

Melia made an immediate impact at Richmond Park, becoming St Patrick’s Athletic’s youngest ever player and goalscorer, while also becoming the youngest scorer in League of Ireland Premier Division history when he found the net against UCD later that year. He went on to become the youngest player to feature in an FAI Cup final, helping St Pats lift the trophy against Bohemians in November 2023, before being named PFAI Young Player of the Year.

His performances attracted significant interest from across England before Tottenham Hotspur agreed a deal for his transfer in 2025, with Melia completing his move to north London in January 2026.

Melia featured for Tottenham’s Under-21 side during the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, scoring three goals in six Premier League 2 appearances after recovering from injury. He was subsequently handed his senior international debut for the Republic of Ireland in May 2026, earning two caps against Qatar and Canada, before making his first senior appearance for Tottenham during their pre-season tour of Australia in July.

He now arrives at the ProAmpac Stadium for his first experience of regular English league football, with the forward looking to continue his rapid development with the Imps.
