Several young City fans had a day they will never forget as part of City’s annual Junior Takeover Day.

Always an eagerly anticipated event on the calendar, the Junior Takeover Day offers an incredible opportunity for young supporters to be right at the heart of the club’s matchday.

Whether it was commentating on match-winning moments, announcing the goalscorers over the PA system or gracing the hallowed turf as a player, the Imps helped to put smiles on faces and create unforgettable memories for the next generations of Imps supporters.

As well as player, PA announcer, communications manager and commentator, other roles included referee, chief executive, kit manager and grounds manager.

City’s chief executive Liam Scully said: “This is one of our favourite days of the year, it is incredibly important to have events like this. We want to be able to create once in a lifetime memories for our young supporters.

“I think we can all remember moments from our childhood that made us fall in love with football and hopefully matchdays like this can go one step further, and embed that relationship between the football club and the fan of the future.”

Supporter liaison officer and matchday announcer Alan Long added: “We’ve been doing this for a number of years now and it is such a great day, one of my favourite in the calendar!

“It is fantastic to see these young people come into the football club and get a taste of all of these different roles from PA announcer to chief executive, it is a great experience for them.”
