City goalkeeper George Wickens believes the team deserved more from their 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.
The Imps were denied victory in stoppage time after leading for over 95 minutes through Freddie Draper’s early goal, but Wickens believes that City will have a great season if they continue to perform as they have.
Wickens said: “When you work as hard as that, it always hurts to concede so late.
“For it to end that way was gutting, we but at the same time, if we’re that together and work as hard as that throughout the year, we’ll have a really good season.
“There are positives to take for sure, we’d have taken four points from a possible six away from home at the start of the week.
“We felt like we deserved more, but that is the way football is. If we keep performing like that, we’ll have a good chance.”
The Imps have a new signing in their ranks after completing the capture of Ivan Varfolomeev late last week and Wickens feels his new teammate is settling in well.
He said: “Ivan is a great lad, I sat next to him on the coach on the way down and he was great. I think he’ll settle in well.
“His quality will certainly show in the next few weeks and we’re all really looking forward to working with him.”
