Dan Vanderpuye was pleased to get on the scoresheet as he found the equaliser against Burton Albion in the U17 PDL Cup on Wednesday night.

City played their final fixture of the U17 PDL Cup group stage against Burton Albion in which they fought back to secure a 1-1 draw with an impressive performance that could've seen them win the game.

Striker Vanderpuye scored a looping header in the dying minutes to level the game - he was pleased to get himself back on the scoresheet.

He said: “It feels very good to be on the scoresheet again, obviously as I’m a striker that’s my job to get the goals and help the lads out.

“It was a very good delivery from Harrison that I managed to follow in, I’d done my best to deal with it, and I think I did a good job to score that header, so I’m glad to keep bagging in the goals.”

Vanderpuye was proud that his goal keeps the Imps in with a chance of playing in the U17 PDL Shield and values how important a cup run is for the team.

He added: “I’m very happy, I think the lads deserved it they played very well, the scoreline doesn’t reflect the game and we were very unlucky not to get the win but I’m very proud of the lads.

“I’m happy to do my part and help us push as far as possible cup runs are very important so hopefully we can get far.”
