The University of Lincoln men’s first team celebrated promotion in some style after landing the league title thanks to an unbeaten campaign.
It was a memorable season for the side, who won the league by 12 points and avoided defeat in all 10 of their league matches.
This is the first campaign in which players from the university have benefitted from a unique coaching agreement with the Imps academy, something which first team captain Tom Coupe believes has been pivotal to their success this term.
He said: “It’s a great achievement for us to go unbeaten this season.
“Our goal at the start of the campaign was to win the league, which we secured with two games to play, but to go unbeaten is amazing.
“A lot of the credit has to go to Lincoln City and our partnership with them, having access to a top-quality coach every week, as well as analysts and physios has definitely helped us in all aspects.”
Lincoln City youth development phase lead coach Isaac Rice, who also coaches the side, said: “The team have had an excellent campaign.
“Going a full season unbeaten is something everyone should be proud of and the players deserve all the plaudits for that.
“They’ve all been able to take advantage of everything the programme offers, from on the pitch training sessions, to all the off-pitch support such as video analysis, as well as medical and sports science support.”
