Sam Tillen reflected on a positive February for his U18 side.
The young Imps started the month with a 1-1 draw against Bradford City before securing three points on the road against Salford City and then rounding out the month with a defeat to a strong Stockport County side.
Tillen highlighted a shift in the squad, which has seen young players come into the fold after multiple second year scholars departed on work experience loans.
He said: “It has been a good month, we’ve integrated some young players into the group and given them more game time than they had in the first half of the season.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to cast our gaze further forward in terms of what we want from next year, looking at different ways of playing and integrating players into the environment and letting them experience the higher tempo and quality."
Tillen wants to focus on developing and preparing the younger members of his squad for the next campaign as they look to end the 2024/25 season strong.
He added: “We want them to feel like they can stand their ground initially and then begin to thrive in this environment. We’ve already had two positive results, I thought we played very well against Bradford and we showed good tactical discipline in the second half against Salford.
“We try to put more emphasis on the result than they would have in their previous age groups, focusing on game management. It’s giving them that experience and ultimately we’re trying to prepare them for professional football where results matter.”
